Daewoo DMV-400 CNC vertical machining center — production operation

01 · The Machine

The Daewoo Diamond DMV-400 is our CNC vertical machining center — a 3-axis mill with a 20-tool automatic tool changer that handles secondary operations, fixturing work, and precision dimensional parts. Where the laser shapes flat material and the brake forms it, the mill is what turns sheet metal into a finished assembly.

02 · Why It's Here

We chose the DMV-400 for the work that's too tight for the laser and too complex for manual machining. Drilled and tapped holes with locational tolerance to ±0.005". Pocket geometry that needs flat-bottoms. Reamed bores for press-fit hardware. Counterbores, slots, and contoured profiles. Anything that requires the mill's positional precision in three axes.

03 · How It Runs

Most of what runs on this machine pairs with sheet metal coming off the laser and brake — secondary tapping, hardware insertion bores, precision fixturing for assembly. But it also handles standalone milled work: fixture plates, tooling components, contoured profiles, and parts milled from solid stock. Lights-out runs on production fixturing keep the mill productive overnight.

31.5″ × 16.5″ × 20″ XYZ travel — handles parts up to roughly 30″ × 16″ × 18″ accounting for tool reach and workholding. For parts that exceed the envelope we'll quote routing through a partner shop with a larger machining center.

±0.001" on dimensional features, ±0.0005" on critical bores with fine boring tools. Hole locational tolerance ±0.005" standard, ±0.002" available on jobs that justify the slower feed rate. First-article CMM verification on every tight-tolerance run.

Mild steel (A36, 1018, 4140), stainless 304/316/17-4 PH, aluminum 6061/7075/MIC-6, tool steel (D2, A2, P20), brass, bronze, cast iron, and engineering plastics (Delrin, UHMW, PEEK). For specialty alloys (Inconel, titanium) we'll quote with material lead time.

Yes — that's most of what the mill does. Tapped holes for hardware, reamed bores for dowels, counterbores for fasteners, and slot machining on laser-cut blanks. The cut/bend/mill workflow keeps everything in-house and on schedule.

Yes for repeat production work where the program is proven and the workholding is dialed in. The 20-tool ATC handles tool changes overnight; chip evacuation and probing keep the mill running without operator intervention. We typically use lights-out for production fixturing batches and standardized tooling parts.

Single prototypes: 3-7 days from CAD lock. Production runs (50-500 parts): 1-2 weeks depending on programming and material lead. Same-day quote on every job with material requirements identified.

Yes — free pickup at our Brampton shop on Bramsteele Road. We also deliver CNC machining work across the Greater Toronto Area — Mississauga, Toronto, Vaughan, and Oakville — and ship production runs across Ontario. Same-day quotes from your CAD file; most parts ship in 5-10 working days.
