Overview

Tube Laser Cutting.

Tube laser cutting replaces the saw-drill-mill workflow with a single programmed cut. At our Brampton shop, a fiber laser rotates around the tube while it advances, slicing miters, copes, and through-holes in one continuous operation — parts come off the bed weld-ready, with no manual fishmouthing.

What it's used for

Welded steel structures, conveyor frames, automotive subframes, architectural railings, exhaust components, and any tube assembly that depends on tight joint geometry. Where a hand-built frame once needed eight hours of sawing and coping, the laser handles it in twenty minutes — every joint cut to the same drawing.

Why people use it

One programmed setup replaces three or four manual operations. Joint accuracy is sub-millimeter, so weldments fit on the first try with no shimming. There's no fixturing cost — the program handles tube rotation and feed automatically, and re-orders cut identical parts even years later from the same file.

What we hold to

±0.005″ on cut length and feature placement. Tube up to 4×4″ section, 0.250″ wall, 20 ft length. Mild steel, stainless, aluminum. First-article weld-fit verification on tight-joint assemblies before the rest of the run releases.

Machine & Material

The Tube and the Beam.

Every tube job runs on the same TRUMPF fiber tube laser. Up to 4″ × 4″ profile, 0.250″ wall, miters and copes cut in a single setup. Below: every tube material we work in, in the wall thicknesses we keep in stock.

Workflow

From File to Tube.

A tube job touches five hands between your CAD upload and the welding cell. Here's exactly what happens — and where it happens — inside the shop.

Talk to a Fabricator
01
Send Your Tube Drawing

STEP files for 3D weldments, DXF flat patterns for unrolled tubes, or 2D drawings with miter angles and hole locations. We'll convert and program.

02
Tube Nesting + Program

We nest your parts on stock tube length, generate the cut program, and verify miter angles + cope geometry before the program goes to the machine.

03
Material Sourcing

Round, square, rectangular tube from our stocked sizes or sourced to your spec. Pre-finished stock (galvanized, painted) handled without finish damage.

04
3D Cut + Verification

Tube goes through the laser in one setup — every feature cut from the same datum. First article checked for fit-up before the production run.

05
Direct to Weld or Shipping

If your job includes welding, tubes move 30 ft to the welding cell. Otherwise: bundled for pickup or LTL freight, weld-ready.

Recent tube jobs that came off the TRUMPF — copes, miters, and mounting holes cut in one setup. Architectural railings, conveyor frames, automotive subframes, every joint ready to tack on the first try.

Where Buyers Get Stuck

What's Slowing Your Decision?

Three worries we hear from buyers spec'ing a tube-laser shop for the first time. Here's what each one sounds like — and the honest reply, with the proof.

Buyer Objections
Three Worries
Worry 01

We always end up grinding tube ends to fit at the weld table.

The Honest Reply

The fiber tube laser cuts copes and miters to ±0.005″. When the tube hits the weld table it lays in flush — no grinding, no shimming, no grinder marks left on the finished surface. We've turned three-day handrail jobs into one-day welds.

Why You Can Trust This
  • 3D-mitered handrails ready for stair and railing weldments
  • Burr-free fiber kerf — finish survives the cut
  • Stainless, aluminum, galvanized — finish-matched to spec
Worry 02

Manual mitering used to take longer than the actual welding.

The Honest Reply

That's exactly the bottleneck the tube laser kills. Five operations — saw, drill, miter top, miter bottom, deburr — collapse into one program. Schedule shrinks from days to hours, and the tube goes straight from the laser to the welding cell on the same shop floor.

Why You Can Trust This
  • Five manual ops collapse into one programmed setup
  • All four faces (top, bottom, sides) cut from one datum
  • Cross-member bolt patterns cut with the frame, not after
Worry 03

My current shop chops, drills, and miters as separate steps. Tolerances stack up.

The Honest Reply

Single setup means single coordinate system. Every feature on the tube — both ends, all four sides, every hole — references the same datum. Tolerance stack disappears, and your welding cell gets tubes that fit on the first try.

Why You Can Trust This
  • Tubes arrive ready to fit and tack — no rework
  • No deburring, no grinding to length, no manual mitering
  • Volume pricing on production runs of repeated parts

Round, square, rectangular, and structural-section profiles up to 4" × 4" envelope. Wall thickness up to 0.250" in mild steel and aluminum, 0.188" in stainless and galvanized. For larger or non-standard profiles contact us with your spec.

Yes — that's the core advantage of a 3D tube laser. Both ends, all four sides, every hole and slot cut from a single coordinate system. Manual mitering, drilling, and deburring operations are eliminated.

No minimum. Single prototype tubes through production runs of thousands. Tooling cost is zero — programming is included in the quote.

±0.005" repeatable on all features (length, hole locations, miter angles). Weld-ready fit-up means tubes lay in flush at the weld table without manual grinding.

Yes — our welding cell is in the same shop. Tubes can move directly from the laser to MIG, TIG, or spot welding for finished assemblies. One PO, one fabricator, one delivery.

Yes — most of our tube laser cutting work goes to OEM and fabrication customers in Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto, Vaughan, and Oakville. Free GTA pickup at our Brampton shop, or we ship direct to your dock. Same-day quotes; weld-ready tubes typically ship in 5 working days.
